NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The annual 9/11 Memorial “Tribute in Light” has been canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A spokesperson for the 9/11 Memorial and Museum told CBS2 on Thursday the decision was difficult.
Instead of two light beams from Lower Manhattan, buildings throughout the city will illuminate in blue to remember the Sept. 11th anniversary.
Officials said they had to consider health risks to the dozens of crew members required to install the lights and cables for the annual tribute.
