NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — President Donald Trump‘s brother Robert Trump died Saturday night after being hospitalized in New York on Friday.
The president released the following statement Saturday night:
“It is with heavy heart I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight. He was not just my brother, he was my best friend. He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever. Robert, I love you. Rest in peace.”
Robert Trump was 72 years old.
The White House did not release details about the cause of death.
The president visited his brother at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell on Friday afternoon.
“I have a wonderful brother. We’ve had a great relationship for a long time, from day one. That’s a long time ago,” the president said Friday.
Robert Trump previously worked for the president as a top executive at the Trump Organization.
