NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A man was placed under arrest after he was rescued from the East River.
The NYPD Harbor Unit pulled the man from the water near Pike Street on Thursday afternoon.
Police say officers were chasing the man after he allegedly assaulted a pedestrian. The man then jumped into the river.
Two officers had to be treated at the hospital.
The suspect was arrested and charged with assault.
