RAHWAY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — A toddler from Rahway, New Jersey was found Saturday, approximately 15 hours after police issued an AMBER Alert.
2-year-old Sebastian Rios was found safe and his father, 27-year-old Tyler Rios, was taken into custody, according to state police.
The boy’s mother, 24-year-old Yasemin Uyar, is still missing, police said.
AMBER Alert notifications were sent at around 2:40 p.m. Friday when police said Rios abducted the boy and his mother.
The Union County Prosecutors Office is leading the investigation, but has not released further details.
On Friday, CBS2’s Jessica Layton reported Rahway police officers were investigating around a home on Westfield Avenue, where neighbors said Sebastian and his mother live.
Authorities seemed to be zeroing in on a staircase on the side of the house leading up to a second-floor door, but they did not say anything about the significance of that area of the home.
Neighbors said they didn’t know the father, but they’ve seen Uyar and Sebastian around the neighborhood and at the local soccer field in the past.
