NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A major change is happening Tuesday for public libraries across New York City — no more late fees.
The Brooklyn, New York and Queens public library systems are making the change, which takes effect for all five boroughs. Combined, it’s the largest library system in the country to eliminate fines.
It’s also good news for readers who have outstanding fines. Under the new policy, all prior late fees will be cleared from users’ accounts.
