For a timeless jean that checks all the boxes, stylist Laura Pritchard swears by Citizens of Humanity. “The color, the straight-leg fit, and the high-rise waist—it’s all perfect,” she says. Even better, “I didn’t need to get them tailored, which is a rare find with denim.” As someone petite, Pritchard says finding jeans that don’t require alterations is a challenge. “Petite sizes are too short, and regular inseam jeans are miles too long. Bootcut would work if I was taller, and skinny fit just isn’t for me,” she says. “I hit the jackpot with these—they hit right at my ankle, are slim but still roomy in the lower leg.”
Pritchard prefers styling them in a more masculine way, pairing them with tailored vests, jackets, and loafers, noting that a classic straight leg always works with any shoe. “I stick to timeless styles that adapt to my personal style, avoiding trendy or colored denim,” she adds.
