When he was in his pre-Taylor era, I can't imagine why Travis Kelce would attend the VMAs. In 2024, however, Kelce is dating Taylor Swift, who is nominated for an eye-popping 12 Video Music Awards this year—more than any other single nominee. If she wins just three of them, she'll overtake Beyoncé's record for most VMA wins in history. Being the supportive boyfriend that he is, why wouldn't Kelce accompany Swift to the ceremony?
Well, if Page Six's reporting is correct, the answer is because of work. According to the tabloid, Travis Kelce won't make it to the VMAs in 2024 because he has to be back in Kansas City for football practice. And that's fair. I can't see Kelce winning any more Super Bowls if he's skipping practice to go to music awards and, because it's Taylor Swift, that would be a lot of music awards.
He and his brother Jason did send Swift a little love on their New Heights podcast, however. On the September 11 episode, Travis explained, “She’s nominated [for] about 10 of those things tonight. Hopefully, she can walk away with some Moonmen!” He continued, “Wishing everybody the best, though.” Jason then added, “Unless you’re up against Tay, then I hope you lose.”
