Liam Payne's Death: What We Know About the Singer's Final Hours

“Honestly, love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long,” she said, per E! News. "And we were supposed to be there for, like, five days, turned into two weeks…I was just like, ‘I need to go home.’"

Payne had been staying at the CasaSur Palmero Hotel in Buenos Aires for “two or three days” before his death, according to a translated transcript of the 911 call placed by staff.

Local authorities received a 911 call regarding a hotel guest whose life “may be in danger.”

The BBC shared a translated transcript of a 911 call placed by the hotel's chief receptionist, who asked for assistance with a guest who seemed to be high on drugs or alcohol and was “trashing the room.” Payne's name was not used during the call.

“We need you to send someone urgently because, well, I don’t know whether his life may be in danger, the guest’s life,” the receptionist added. “He is in a room with a balcony and well, we’re a little afraid that he…”

In the hours after his death, The Daily Mail shared photos of Payne's alleged hotel room, which show a smashed TV screen, burnt aluminum foil, and more signs of damage.

Authorities confirm how Payne fell from his hotel balcony.

The communications director for the Buenos Aires Security Ministry said in a statement to The Associated Press that Payne “jumped from the balcony of his room” which resulted in “extremely serious injuries.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Payne's cause of death has been confirmed.

According to a preliminary autopsy seen by CNN, Payne's cause of death is “internal and external hemorrhage.” Per local news reports translated by People, Payne also suffered “a fracture at the base of the skull.” An investigation is still underway for more details regarding the moments leading up to his death.

Payne's ex-fiancée issued a cease and desist days before his death.

Payne's ex-fiancée Maya Henry reportedly issued a cease-and-desist order in early October after claiming that the singer had been obsessively contacting her and “weaponizing” his fanbase against her. In a TikTok posted on October 6, she says that “ever since we broke up, he messages me, blow[s] up my phone.”
