Though originally imagined as a waterproof raincoat, the trench has been reimagined in various fabrics through the years—including, of course, suede.
Today’s versions seem to draw inspiration from the 1970s, which is in line with the recent resurgence of the boho-chic trend that’s currently taking the fashion world by storm. It’s a comeback we owe in part to Chemena Kamali, who channeled the decade during her first collection for Chloé.
If you’re buying a suede trench coat for 2024, opt for shades of brown, beige, and camel. The colors are dominating almost all our fall essentials, with our outerwear being no exception.

On social media, and Instagram in particular, it’s not uncommon to come across women in the know wearing long suede coats with a matching belt, worn simply with a dress or jeans.
